Exporting Home Appliances to Thailand — Voltage, Standards, and Documents
When exporting Japanese home appliances to Thailand, the first thing to check is the difference in power supply. Japan uses 100V, while household power in Thailand is 220V / 50Hz. Using 100V-only Japanese appliances as-is can cause failure or accidents, so the starting point is either selling with a transformer in mind or selecting 220V-compatible models.
Next come standards and certification. In Thailand, some electrical products require TIS (Thai Industrial Standards) certification. Always confirm whether your items are covered before export, and if certification is needed, agree with the local importer on who handles it — this prevents trouble later.
On the documentation side, the basic set is the invoice, packing list, and bill of lading (B/L). In addition, accurately identifying the customs classification (HS code) makes local clearance smoother and avoids unexpected duty costs.
— In this way, each issue takes up one theme and explains practical procedures and points of caution in concrete terms.
